I am an artist and designer based in San Jose, California. My studio, Denim Twice, is an experimental space where I focus on the innovative use of reclaimed textiles as a medium and embrace a waste-free ethos.
Within the constraints imposed by the material, I tell stories inspired by nature and the world around me. My creative process balances spontaneity and calculation. From intuitive freehand sketching or collaging with old magazine pages in nature to methodical pinning, stitching, and trimming in the studio, the ideas emerge in denim in a gradual, multistep evolution.
I experiment with a monochromatic yet rich palette while continuously reinventing and refining my technique. I search for harmony in contrasts, whether it's in the flow of lines in structured spaces or the interplay between a soft fringe and sharp geometries in the form of abstraction. Texture, surface, and intricate shapes echoing nature play a fundamental role in my work.
Driven by optimism, Denim Twice Studio embraces the contemporary zeitgeist as an alternative art and design practice informed by urgent environmental concerns.
